Gill Allen's June 10th demo' focused on landscapes in the semi-abstract form, where she talked through her process from preparation (days ahead) to her final choices based on several 'studies'. Gill's method allows a deeper familiarity with her subject matter, to connect with and clarify her journey forward.

Her smaller studies include thumbnail sketches, experiments with colour and composition, followed by work on the demo' with Gill's choice of Schmincke, Unison, NuPastel and other pastels, along with the all-important willow charcoal.

The demo' itself was a study in its own right, in terms of how to approach a painting project thoughtfully and planfully.
