ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I have lived a coastal lifestyle for over 35 years, spending time at the beach and watching the waves crashing onto the sand and the play of light on the water and through the waves. This is what I try to replicate in my paintings. In recent years my work has shifted more towards the little things that most people will just walk past.

My current work zooms into shells on the beach, the bubbles in the ocean foam and sparkles on the waves. I hope my works depicting the natural beauty of our Australian coastline will bring people to appreciate the ocean and make them a bit more mindful when they next visit the beach.

I love our underwater world and recent trips to the beautiful Lady Elliot and Lady Musgrave Islands have enabled me to take some great reference photos. I am privileged to be invited to attend the release of rehabilitated turtles by Quoin Island Turtle Rehab Centre, which enables me to paint beautiful turtle release works. I donate a large percentage of profits from each turtle painting to local Turtle Rescue organisations.
