Competitions

The Pastel Society of Australia (PSA) is proud to offer a range of competitions designed to inspire, challenge, and celebrate our members' talents. While most competitions are exclusively for PSA members, the Annual Awards Competition welcomes entries from both members and non-members.

Annual Awards Competition

Our most prestigious event, the Annual Awards Competition, is open to both PSA members and non-members, providing a platform for artists to showcase their talent on a grand scale.

  • Open to: PSA members and non-members (non-members have limited entry categories).

  • Categories: Multiple categories with generous sponsorship prizes.

  • Special Award: The Alexandra Award celebrates emerging artists within the Society.

  • Judging: All entries are judged by experienced professionals in the field of pastel art.

Monthly Zoom Competition

Exclusively for members, this informal competition runs alongside our monthly Zoom demonstrations. Members are invited to submit a piece of artwork inspired by the guest artist’s style, the demonstration topic, or their personal projects.

  • Open to: PSA members attending the Zoom demonstration.

  • Purpose: A fun way to engage, learn, and share work within our supportive community.

  • Frequency: 8 times a year.

Biannual Set Subject Competition

Challenge your creativity with this focused competition held twice a year. Each event features a unique theme to inspire artistic exploration.

  • Open to: PSA members.

  • Themes: Curated to inspire artistic exploration and innovation.

  • Frequency: Held twice a year.
