About the Demo:

Join Kym for an exploration of life drawing fundamentals using pan pastels on toned paper. Over the course of this demonstration, Kym will share what she’s learned through regular practice — the spontaneity of the moment and the energy it creates in your work.
She’ll work through some quick gesture sketches to capture the essence of a pose, then move into a longer study where she’ll demonstrate how to build accurate proportions and create convincing form through value and mark-making. She’ll show you how to use lighting to sculpt the figure and tackle the challenges of foreshortening — those tricky angles that make life drawing so rewarding when you get them right!
Time management is crucial in life drawing, so Kym will talk through her process explaining how to prioritise what's important in a 2-minute pose versus 20-minute pose. She’ll be working with pan pastels, showing you how the different tools can quickly establish form and atmosphere on toned paper.
Whether you're just starting out or looking to refresh your approach, there's nothing quite like learning to see and translate the human form to paper.
