'Still Life'

The Brisbane group was treated to yet another wonderful pastel demonstration by Master Pastellist, Penelope Gilbert Ng at our February meeting.

Penelope generously shared her expressive process, beginning with carefully controlled lighting and a watercolour underpainting to establish tone and simplify her forms. From there, she applied pastel with confident, unblended strokes, focusing on striking colour relationships and beautifully judged edges.

The result? A harmonious, evocative still life, that quietly invited the viewer’s engagement and imagination.
