Chris's presentation topic was called SIMPLIFYING COMPLEX SUBJECTS IN PASTELS.
A short powerpoint presentation was given showing how your drawings and painting starts with three basic shapes. A square, a circle and a triangle. Complex shapes can be made easy using this method.
Chris demonstrated this technique with two paintings. The first one involves people crossing a busy intersection and his second, a drawing of an earth moving excavator.
Using Art Spectrum Colourfix paper Aubergine. Chris started his painting with dark pastels and then onto medium to light pastels .Detailing his painting last. This presentation was about shapes and did not discuss composition or focal points.
Thankyou Chris for presenting your style of painting.
Chris brought along his homemade pumpkin soup and bread. Enjoyed by all during our break.
