Angela Parr is an artist based in the Byron Bay area of New South Wales, whose lifelong passion for drawing and painting evolved into a full-time career after retiring from teaching. Inspired by the region's beaches, rivers, wildlife and birdlife, she has become well known for expressive paintings of Australian animals, particularly birds, created primarily in pastel.

Although largely self-taught, Angela has developed her skills through workshops and extensive observation of nature. She is actively involved in the art community through several art societies, local exhibitions and Open Studios events. Her work reflects a deep appreciation of wildlife and the natural environment, with colour, texture and light playing central roles in her paintings.

Angela describes art as a joyful and deeply personal process. She believes successful paintings capture not just the appearance of a subject but also an emotional response or memory. Her advice to other artists is simple: don't compare yourself with others -create art that pleases you and enjoy the journey.

Angela had Accomplished Pastellist, PSA status conferred upon her from 8 April 2026.
