Celebrating 40 Years (1986 - 2026)

My pastel art journey started in 2015 when I discovered these soft colourful sticks at my first pastel class in Geelong, Victoria.
I was immediately taken by that direct connection between my fingers and the medium. I love taking photos and these often end up as inspiration for my work. I have taken classes with well-known pastellists and am constantly learning more about this medium and how it can be used.
I was most surprised to get the news that when I joined on 17 February 2026, I was the PSA's 400th current member. As a new member, the first thing I appreciated was having immediate access to the members' online resources which include "The Pastellist" quarterly newsletter issues, as well as an extensive library of over 50 video demonstrations by experienced pastel artists.
These give me insights and help me to expand my horizon on what is possible with pastels!
What inspires me? Catching light as it dances on fabric folds, old worn structures which tell a story from the past, the power of waves at the beach or their quiet reflections on the sand. I hope to inspire the viewer in finding a story in each of my paintings.
