Kym Beaton is an Accomplished Pastel Artist of NZ (APANZ) and has won awards both nationally and internationally. Her painting passions are plein air landscapes, portraits and life drawing and they rely heavily on the principles of her formal training in graphic design using sophisticated colour combinations and unique perspectives that make her work distinctive. Recently returned to Australia from New Zealand's South Island, her landscapes have expanded from alpine mountains and lakes to subtropical skies and coastal scenes. Kym is passionate about sharing what she's learned from her painting experiences; from recording a 'Colour In Your Life' television episode, to working with rural art initiatives and establishing life drawing sessions. "There's an energy when I paint from life… a reckless abandon that relies on intuitive reactions rather than planned outcomes, producing work that's uniquely me.
