Celebrating 40 Years (1986 - 2026)

Lyn Henry lives in Invercargill, at the southern end of New Zealand.
A Charter Member of Pastel Artists of New Zealand (PANZ), she joined PANZ in 2003 and first exhibited with them in 2008. She served as PANZ President from 2020 to 2025 and, in March 2026, was honoured with PANZ Master Pastellist status.
Lyn has worked in pastel for around 25 years, drawn to the medium's immediacy, ease of application and vibrant colour. Her paintings always begin with a title and usually tell a story from the inside out. Whether figurative or abstract, they express memories and evoke feelings about people, places and experiences. Through abstract expressionism, she enjoys the freedom to explore the "what if" by building texture, layering colour and, above all, having fun.
She has held three solo exhibitions and participated in numerous joint exhibitions. Lyn also convenes the Southern Pastel Artists group, encouraging regular paint days and plein air sessions, while organising - and occasionally teaching - workshops.
Lyn joined the Pastel Society of Australia in 2016. Although the distance means she mainly exhibits in the Society's online competitions, she attends local PSA events whenever possible. She has also taught several one-day workshops, enjoys the Society's monthly Zoom meetings, and has been a guest demonstrator on three occasions.
In 2021, Lyn was awarded Accomplished Pastellist status by the Pastel Society of Australia, followed by the Society's Master Pastellist status, conferred on 8 April 2026.
