Can darken tone by 1% 

Ordinary picture framing glass gives a faint greenish tint to everything under it. 

Dust Catcher 

Put a dust catcher underneath the matt and against the painting. This is usually a piece of  mattboard cut 5mm less in width than the top matt and sits out of sight in the framed painting.
